THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO SUPERMAN
Presentamos en esta página un extraño libro titulado 'El Evangelio según Superman', escrito en 1973 por el Reverendo John T. Galloway, Jr. graduado en la Uiversidad Princeton y en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton. Es ministro de la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana de York en Pennsylvania, Estados Unidos.
En este libro, el Sr. Galloway nos trae el verdadero mensaje de Cristo contrastando la humanidad y vulnerabilidad de Jesús con la personificación invulnerable de nuetras propias fantasías: Superman.
Cuando el tímido reportero Clark Kent entra en una cabina telefónica y segundos después aparece Superman, sabemos que todo va a ir bien. Los buenos se salvarán y los malos serán castigados y habrá un final feliz sin que nadie tenga que esforzarse excepto nuestro héroe. Superman es el hombre perfecto hecho dios. Está disponible para ayudar en las crisis, nunca pide nada a cambio y nunca se mete en la vida de nadie.
En contraste, el Dios que nos ha hecho, es con mucho, una parte de nuestras vidas. Es el Dios que conduce e inspira a la gente a realizar Su voluntad. En esta época de "haz lo que quieras", no siempre es popular sugerir que necesitamos encontrar un poder fuera y más allá de nosotros, capaz de cambiarnos. A pesar de ello, el reverndo John T. Galloway, Jr. cree que es hora de que dejemos de preguntar, ¿Qué necesita el hombre? y empezar a preguntar ¿Qué necesita el Señor?.
El libro está dedicado a los miembros y amigos de la Iglesia Presbyteriana Ogden y publicado por A.J. Holman Company.
En sus 141 páginas y 15 capítulos, reproduce como material gráfico algunas páginas del Action Comics No.1 y la aventura íntegra titulada 'El Arquero' publicada originalmente en el SUPERMAN NO.13, 2ª aventura, de Noviembre-Diciembre 1941 y reproducida muchas veces como en el libro 'The Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told' y en 'Superman Archives' Vol.4.

In this book Mr. Galloway brings the true message of Christ back into focus by contrasting the humanity and vulnerability of Jesus with the invulnerable embodiment of our own fantasies, Superman.
When mild-mannered Clark Kent steps into a phone booth to emerge seconds later as Superman, we know everything is going to be all right. The good guys will be saved. The bad guys punished, and there will be a happy ending with no effort on the part of anyone but our Hero. Superman is the perfect man-made 'god'. He is available to help in a crisis, he never makes any demands, and he never intrudes into anyone's life.
In contrast, the God who made us is very much a part of our lives. He is a God who leads and inspires people to do His will. In this age of 'do your own thing', it is not always popular to suggest that we need to encounter a power outside and beyond us, able to change us. Yet the Reverend John T. Galloway, Jr., thinks it is time we stopped asking, What do men need? and started asking, What does the Lord require?.
The book is dedicated to the members and friends of the Ogden Presbyterian Church and published by A. J. Holman Company.
