One of the most important interest of this wonderfull collection is its dedication to the reprinted stories of the past, having the possibility of getting Superman adventures that are very expensives in its original issues.
Uno de los intereses más importantes por el que merece la pena considerar esta fantástica colección, es porque al estar dedicada a reproducir números más antiguos, tenemos aquí la posibilidad de recuperar historias que en su cuaderno original de la época, están actualmente muy revalorizadas y por lo tanto cuestan mucho dinero. En cambio, las podemos conseguir por menos dinero a través de esta colección.
80pg GIANT collection began in 1964 with 15 issues in an extra format of 80 pages that is the cause of its name, as the ordinary issues had 36 pages.
La colección 80pg GIANT empezó en 1964 con 15 números en formato extra de 80 páginas que es lo que le dio el nombre por contraposición a los cuadernos ordinarios de la época que contenían 36.
The comics were always reprints of Superman stories decided by the publishers or solicitated by the readers.
La composición de los cuadernos de esta colección ha estado formada siempre por reimpresiones de números anteriores, bien sea por decisión de la editorial, o por deseo expreso de los lectores que en sus cartas solicitaban que se volviera a publicar tal o cual historia.
Other particular characteristic is the compound covers with the parts of the cover related to the inside stories.

Because of these three first characteristics we can see that the origin of this collection is the first Superman Annuals that were published from 1960 to 1963 with the logo GIANT SUPERMAN on the covers.

Although there won't be no more annuals until 1983, the pleasure for the reprinting stories was yet sown and in the same 1964 begins the 80pg GIANT collection that follows the same tradition with compound covers, reprinted stories, collectors curiosities, and so on. In 1964 and 1965 were published the first 15 issues that are independent and from 1966 to 1971 the rest.
Aunque a partir de 1964 dejaron de salir los anuales, el gusto por las reimpresiones estaba ya bien sembrado y así, en el mismo 1964, empieza la colección 80 PAGE GIANT que sigue la misma tradición de portadas compuestas, reimpresiones, curiosidades, etc. Entre 1964 y 1965 saldrán al mercado los primeros 15 números que son independientes y entre 1966 y 1971 el resto.
These first 15 issues are numbered from 'ISSUE NO.1' to 'ISSUE NO.15', afterwards from NO.16 to the end, they will have its own numbering as G-16, G-17, plus the numbering of the serie. For example, G-16 is JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 39, and so on.

Eight to FLASH: 4, 9, 21, 34, 46, 58, 70 and 82. Seven to SUPERBOY: 10, 22, 35, 47, 59, 71 and 83. Seven to WORLD'S FINEST: 15, 28, 40, 52, 64, 76 and 88. Seven to JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA: 16, 29, 41, 53, 65, 77 and 89. Six to OUR ARMY AT WAR: 19, 32, 44, 56, 68 and 80. Four to ACTION COMICS: 20, 33, 45 and 57. Two to ADVENTURE COMICS: 69 and 81. One to SECRET ORIGINS: 8 and one to SGTO. ROCK: 7.

We can see that of the 89, 30 are from other collections different from Superman and 59 from the Superman Family Series.
Vemos pues que del total de 89, 30 son de series en las que no aparece Superman y 59 de las series de la época en que sí salía el Hombre de Acero.
